Beadboard UpCountry -- It's Worth the Trip to Brenham!!

From the heart of Houston, you are less than 90 miles from Brenham, Texas, a slice of small town Heaven. Although the Bluebell Creamery gets serious attention with its 5 million visitors annually, it would be far from the truth to call Beadboard UpCountry this town's best kept secret. The owner, Maryanne Flaherty, and her shop have received national attention from publications like the New York Times and Urban Home. Located in the Upper East Side of the Square in Brenham at 101 S Baylor street, this Euro Country Luxury Design source has it all! Maryanne makes two trips each year to Paris to bring back linens, table wear, accessories, and antiques that are completely unique.

Look at the beautiful belted cape with the ruffled stole from the beadboard collection knitware offered every fall!  To see examples of the colletion go to

Known as "possibly the most beautiful tablewear in the world", Juliska strives to bring beautiful European designs in their flatware, glassware, ceramics, and linens. I just fell in love with the beautiful placesetting bottom left a line from Arte Italica! The chargers are on my Christmas list!! It would be perfect for my new kitchens look!!

Love this chair and the way the place settings are!!  There are so many ideas at Beadboard Upcountry!!

It seems a little too good to be true that these beautiful dishes are actually melamine... what's not to love about functional elegance?! With fall's cooler temperatures rolling in, these are the perfect way to add a little charm to outdoor dining and entertaining.

Talk about soft and comfortable, this Arte Pura loungewear is both!! The intricacy of their embellishments and buttons makes me wonder if it's wrong to save them for bed time!! Cozy pants, tops, and dreses that come in a variety of light taupes, creams, and lavender... Could we ask for anything more?

Beadboard UpCountry is the sole purveyor of these amazing Arte Pura Italian linens which I love and the very popular French bedding brand Anne de Solene.  Beautiful!!!

Look at these slipcovers for the chair -- I bought 4 for my redo from Beadboard Upcountry -- Fab, beautiful, easy, quick, and a whole different look in minutes. They come in all sorts of colors and in these wondeful tote bags that would be so fun to use. I stuffed them and used them for pillows!! The tags are so beautiful they can be sewn into pillows handbags or would make to die for Christmas ornaments!!  In addition, they also carry the very popular French bedding brand Anne de Solene.

As you burn these candles a cylinder forms inside the center, leaving you with an intricate-lace wrapped candle holder... Just pop in an LED votive! Choose from three sizes (two cylindrical and one cube) and three scents: Linen (natural-colored), Lemongrass/Mint (cooler-colored), and Sandalwood/Patchouli (all other colors).  How wonderful!!!

How precious are these velvet pumpkins? With their beautiful autumn tones, unique shapes, and endless uses.  Great as fillers for baskets, for an original twist on gift wrapping, with dinner place settings, and so much more.

The store also carries jewelry and purses such as these Clutches from Sondra Roberts.  For the last 30 years, this label has been held at high regard for using the finest leathers and exotic materials to create pieces that are not only beautiful but versatile as well. It is definitely worth the trip to Brenham to visit Beadboard Upcountry--but make a day of it.  There are lots of fun shops and wonderful places to like Longhorn Saloon/Restaurant, Must Be Heaven, YUMM and Funky Art Café. Stop at Leftovers on 290, this huge wonderful store that is now decorated for Christmas  has 1000's of decorations, furnishings, home goods, and accessories. The Downtown Christmas Stroll is charming with all the lights and music the first weekend in December.   Want to stay the night? All B&B and event info is on the following websites, or www.visitbrenham.comThanks Maryanne for having such wonderful one of the kind finds!!  You and Beadboard Upcountry are definitely worth the trip to Brenham!!

This week I will be at the Kinkaid Bookfair for those whose kids attend Kinkaid and will be signing books at the dinner. I also will be at a fundraising event for Yellowstone Acadamy on the 10th at 7pm, in which you can tour a one of a kind spectacular home from the book Segreto:Secrets to Finishing Beautiful Interiors.  For tickets email  Thanks to Cote De Texas and the gals form the Skirted Roundtable for such a wonderful conversation about decorative finishes and my new book--to view go to   or       Have a great week!!  Xo Leslie
